The FineBros. channel on Youtube has several types of videos with the intention to entertain. But my opinion is that you need to carefully watch the “…… react to …..” videos. First of all you are going to get a laugh out of it when watching how elders react to Ylvis’ song, “What does the fox say”. But I believe that marketers should critically analyze several of the videos. Some of them can give insight into some trends and the comments given can generate a lot of ideas which will be useful to the marketing profession.

I guess it sounds far fetched, let me explain. Please first watch “Teens react to dumb ways to die”

So let us examine what happened. As you saw, the topic is about a very unique Metro safety campaign. The important part are the dialogues about the ad. You can clearly see that it has a positive effect and a lot of conclusions can be drawn from the information the kids share. Think of those videos as market research with focus groups.

Now this is very controversial and I am very happy about some of the reactions the kids have. We can see that the mindset of a typical child has changed, with regards to the past 20+ years. Will this lead to a bigger chance of a decrease in same sex laws? We can see that children have a broad understanding of the world, maybe its thanks to good parenting and the use of internet. It’s clear that some changes need to be done in the future in order to grab the new generation, which is growing mentally much faster than those from the past.

Of course there are other videos which might motivate marketers in different ways, depending on their experience. So I employ you, watch these videos, first of all to have some fun and then maybe think about how you can use some of that information to your benefit.
